Why this size
Why websites give you WebP files
Most websites now serve images as WebP because it is about a third smaller than JPG. When you save one, you get a .webp file, and many upload forms, older Windows apps and photo printers cannot open it.
Converting to JPG fixes that. The picture looks the same; only transparent areas, which WebP can have and JPG cannot, become white.

How the tool works
The image is decoded in your browser and saved again in the new format at a high quality setting. PNG and WebP keep transparent areas; JPG and GIF get a white background. A JPEG converted to JPG without a size limit keeps every byte and only changes the file name. Everything happens in your browser; your images are never uploaded.
