How to
How to print your Aadhaar card at the right size
- 1.
Get an image of your e-Aadhaar. Download e-Aadhaar from myAadhaar and open the PDF. The password is the first four letters of your name in capitals plus your year of birth. Save the card part as an image or take a screenshot.
- 2.
Crop each side. The frame is locked to the card shape. Crop the front, download it, then do the same for the back.
- 3.
Print at 100%. Each side comes out at 1011 x 638 px and 300 DPI, so it prints at exactly 8.56 x 5.4 cm.
Why this size
Aadhar card size in cm, mm, inches and pixels
The Aadhaar card you carry is the standard ID card size, the same as a bank card: 85.6 x 54 mm, or 8.56 x 5.4 cm, which is about 3.37 x 2.13 inches. UIDAI describes its PVC Aadhaar as a credit card sized card, and the cut-out part of the Aadhaar letter is made to fit a wallet the same way. At 300 DPI, the usual print resolution, one side is 1011 x 638 pixels.
When people ask for the full Aadhaar card size, they usually mean one of two things. The full Aadhaar letter, and the e-Aadhaar you download, is an A4 page: 21 x 29.7 cm. At its foot sits the card part, front and back side by side. Cut to the standard card size, each side is 8.56 x 5.4 cm and the pair together 17.1 x 5.4 cm.
UIDAI treats every form of Aadhaar as equally valid: the letter, the e-Aadhaar, the mAadhaar app and the PVC card. A clear printout of your e-Aadhaar at the right size is a valid copy for KYC, SIM and admission forms. This tool only crops and resizes your own image. It does not create or change an Aadhaar, and your file never leaves your device.
Many online forms want the Aadhaar as one small file instead of a print. Put the front and back into one PDF with image to PDF, which can also keep the PDF under a size in KB, or compress the image to 100 KB when the form takes a JPG.

Tips
Tips that make a difference
- 1.
Print at actual size. Set the printer to 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page. Otherwise the photo shrinks and no longer measures 8.56 x 5.4 cm.
- 2.
Order the PVC card from UIDAI. UIDAI advises against plastic Aadhaar cards printed by shops: the QR code often stops working, and your details are shared with a stranger. Order the official PVC card on myAadhaar instead; it costs a small fee and arrives by post.
- 3.
Use the masked Aadhaar. When you download e-Aadhaar you can choose masked Aadhaar, which shows only the last four digits of your number. It is the safer copy to hand to hotels, shops and offices that do not need the full number.
FAQ
Aadhaar Card Size: questions
- What is the Aadhaar card size in cm?
- 8.56 x 5.4 cm (width x height), the same as a bank card. That is 85.6 x 54 mm.
- Is the Aadhar card size the same as Aadhaar card size?
- Yes. Aadhar and Aadhaar are two spellings of the same card; UIDAI uses Aadhaar. Either way the card is 8.56 x 5.4 cm, and the full letter or e-Aadhaar printout is an A4 page.
- How do I upload my Aadhaar card under 100 KB?
- Crop each side here, then put both into one PDF with image to PDF and set the size limit, or compress the JPG to 100 KB. The text and QR code stay readable at that size.
- What is the full Aadhaar card size?
- The full Aadhaar letter and the e-Aadhaar printout are A4 pages, 21 x 29.7 cm. The card part at the bottom, cut to the standard card size, is 8.56 x 5.4 cm on each side, or 17.1 x 5.4 cm for front and back side by side.
- What is the Aadhaar card size in inches?
- About 3.37 x 2.13 inches (3 3/8 x 2 1/8).

- The same 8.56 x 5.4 cm, about 0.76 mm thick, like an ATM card. UIDAI sells it online and posts it to your address.
- Is a printout of e-Aadhaar valid?
- Yes. UIDAI says every form of Aadhaar, including the downloaded e-Aadhaar, is equally valid. Print it clearly and at full size so the QR code can be scanned.
- Can I make a PVC Aadhaar card here?
- No. This page makes a correctly sized image for a paper copy. The official PVC card is ordered from UIDAI.

- Crop and download each side here, place both images on one A4 page and print at 100%. Each side then measures 8.56 x 5.4 cm.

How we checked this page
Checked by the SizePort team on .
We compare every size and rule on this page with the official sources below, and test the tool with sample photos before it goes live. Rules and platforms change, so if something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
How the tool works
The tool scales your image once, from the original pixels, to the size you set at 300 DPI, and writes 300 DPI into the file so it prints at that size. Everything happens in your browser; your images are never uploaded.
