Why this size
From selfie to passport photo in one flow
A passport photo has three parts that usually need three different apps: the exact size for your country, a plain background, and copies laid out for printing. This maker does all three in one place, in your browser, and converts any photo you already have into passport size.
Choose the country or visa first. The frame, the face guide and the background color change to match: 3.5 x 4.5 cm on white for India and Pakistan, 2 x 2 inches for the US, or cream or light grey for the UK. Then check the crop (the tool finds your face and frames it for you), let the on-device AI replace the wall behind you, and download a single photo for an online form or a 4 x 6 inch sheet to print. Eight 3.5 x 4.5 cm photos fit on one sheet, laid out sideways with cut lines.
A phone photo works well. Stand facing a window, a step in front of a plain wall, and ask someone to hold the phone at eye level.
| Photo size | Copies on 4x6 |
|---|---|
| 3.5 x 4.5 cm (India, Pakistan, UK) | 8 |
| 2 x 2 in (US) | 6 |
| 4.5 x 5.5 cm (Bangladesh) | 4 |
| 4 x 6 cm (Vietnam, Saudi) | 4 |
Avoid
Common mistakes that get photos rejected
- Shadows behind youFace a window and stand away from the wall. The background tool removes what remains.
- Head too small or too bigThe tool sizes the head for your country when it finds your face. If the frame is off, drag it until your head fills the oval: most countries want 70-80% of the height.
- Looking awayLook straight into the lens with both eyes open.
- Printing at the wrong scalePrint the 4x6 sheet at 100% (actual size), never Fit to page.

How the tool works
A small face detection model (YuNet, about 230 KB) runs in your browser, finds your eyes and chin, and places the frame so the head fills the share of the height the country asks for. You can move the frame. The tool then crops to the country's shape, can replace the background with the on-device AI model, and resizes to the official size at 300 DPI. Where the country sets a file size range, it keeps the JPG inside it. Everything happens in your browser; your images are never uploaded.
