Why this size
1x1 picture size in cm, inches and pixels
1 by 1 size in cm is 2.54 x 2.54 cm. A 1x1 picture, also written 1 by 1 or one by one, is a square photo 1 inch wide and 1 inch tall. In millimeters that is 25.4 x 25.4 mm, and at 300 DPI, the print standard, it is 300 x 300 pixels.
A 1 inch photo usually means the same square. In China, though, a "1 inch photo" is 2.5 x 3.5 cm, so when a form gives a size in cm, follow the form. A 1:1 image is different again: 1:1 is only the square shape, at any size, such as a 1080 x 1080 pixel Instagram post.
The 1x1 size is used for IDs, school forms and records with a small photo box. Because it is so small, your face should fill most of the frame. A name tag still fits: the tool writes it in a bold, easy to read size. Need a bigger square? The 2x2 picture is twice as wide and tall. For a passport, most countries want a passport size photo of 3.5 x 4.5 cm instead, and many forms in India have a box for a stamp size photo of 2 x 2.5 cm.

How we checked this page
Checked by the SizePort team on .
We test the tool with sample photos before it goes live and check that the sizes on this page match what it produces. Rules and platforms change, so if something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
How the tool works
The tool scales your image once, from the original pixels, to the size you set at 300 DPI, and writes 300 DPI into the file so it prints at that size. Everything happens in your browser; your images are never uploaded.
