Why this size

When a 300 KB limit makes sense

300 KB is a comfortable limit for email, marketplaces and websites. Photos keep almost all of their detail while taking a fraction of the original space.

The tool keeps your full resolution whenever it can and only reduces quality as far as it has to.

Tips

Tips that make a difference

  1. 1.

Crop first. Cropping to just the face or document removes pixels you do not need, so the quality can stay higher.

  2. 2.

Use JPG. JPG gets much smaller than PNG for photos. Use PNG only if the form asks for it.

  3. 3.

Check the dimensions too. Some portals also require a size such as 3.5 x 4.5 cm or 200 x 230 px. Set both to avoid a second rejection: resize in cm or in pixels first, then compress.

  4. 4.

Plain backgrounds compress better. A plain wall behind you leaves more of the 300 KB for your face.

FAQ

Compress to 300KB: questions

How do I compress an image to 300KB?
Add your photo above and download the result. The 300 KB target is already set: the tool lowers the JPG quality step by step, and the pixel size only if it must, until the file is just under 300 KB.
How do I reduce photo size to 300 KB on my phone?
Open this page in Chrome or Safari, tap to pick a photo or take a new one, then download. It works on Android and iPhone with nothing to install.
Does it change the width and height?
Only if it has to. The tool first lowers the quality at full size, and shrinks the image only when 300 KB is still out of reach.
Will my photo look blurry?
No. At 300 KB most photos look the same as the original on screen.
Can I make it exactly 300 KB?
The result lands just under the limit, usually within a few percent of 300 KB, so the form never rejects it for being too big.
How do I convert an image to JPG under 300KB?
Add a PNG, HEIC, WebP or JPG photo. The result is always a JPG just under 300 KB, so converting and compressing happen in one step.
My form wants a PDF under 300 KB, not a JPG. What do I do?
Use JPG to PDF under 300 KB: it turns one photo or several pages into one PDF under 300 KB. A PDF upload field rejects a JPG even when the size is right.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser on your own device. The photo never reaches our servers.
Can I compress many photos at once?
Yes. Drop several photos and each one is compressed to the same target. Download them one by one or together as a ZIP. For a large batch, the bulk image compressor is made for it.

How we checked this page

We test the tool with sample photos before it goes live and check that the sizes on this page match what it produces. Rules and platforms change, so if something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

How the tool works

The compressor first lowers the JPG quality at full resolution, testing several settings until the file is just under the target. Only if quality alone cannot get there does it reduce the width and height, a little at a time. The result is a JPG. Everything happens in your browser; your images are never uploaded.
