Why this size

Which blurry photos can be fixed

"Blurry" covers different problems, and an honest tool says which ones it can fix. This one is very good at the most common kind: photos that are soft because they are small, were enlarged, or were compressed. Edges come back crisp and text gets easier to read.

It also helps a lot with slight focus blur, the kind where the photo is almost sharp. It helps less with heavy blur, where the camera moved or focused far behind the subject: the result is cleaner and clearer, but the detail that was never captured cannot be brought back.

The model behind it was trained only on public domain photos, on many kinds of blur, noise and compression, so it works on any subject: people, places, products, documents.

FAQ

Unblur Image: questions

Partly, and it depends on the blur. Soft, small and compressed photos come back clear; heavy motion blur and badly missed focus get cleaner but cannot be made like a sharp photo.

Open this page in your phone's browser, add the photo and download the result. No app is needed, and recent phones finish in a few seconds.

Often, when the letters are small or compressed rather than smeared. Always check important text, such as numbers on a document, against the original.

No. The AI model downloads to your browser once (7 MB) and runs on your own device. Your photo never leaves it, and nothing is stored.

The free result is up to 1024 px on its long side, as many times as you like. HD keeps your photo's full resolution: 1 HD photo a month without an account, 3 a month with a free account, unlimited with Pro.

No. It sharpens what is in the photo and does not retouch, smooth or reshape faces. It is not a beauty filter.

They set how much the AI redraws. Auto first measures how sharp your photo is: a sharp photo is only cleaned up and stays natural, while a blurry one gets more detail rebuilt. Gentle always stays closest to your photo. Strong rebuilds the most, which helps very blurry photos but can make faces look less natural.

How the tool works

An open AI model, NERVE (Apache 2.0, trained only on public domain photos), downloads to your browser once (7 MB) and runs there with WebGPU, or on the processor where WebGPU is missing. First the tool measures how sharp your photo is. A sharp photo is given to the model at full detail and only cleaned up, with part of its own pixels kept so it stays natural; a soft or blurry one is given at a smaller size, where the model can rebuild the edges the blur hides. You can also choose Gentle or Strong yourself. The model works at four times the size in overlapping tiles, so any size works without seams, and its result is averaged down to the size you get. The model file is checked against its fingerprint before it runs. Faces are not retouched, and colours and light are left as they are. Everything happens in your browser; your images are never uploaded.
