Why this size

When you need PNG instead of WebP

WebP is great for websites, but many editors, design tools and older apps still do not open it. PNG works everywhere and keeps transparency, so it is the safest format for logos, stickers and cut-outs you saved as WebP.

Expect the PNG to be larger: PNG is lossless and stores every pixel. The picture itself does not change.

How we checked this page

How the tool works

The image is decoded in your browser and saved again in the new format at a high quality setting. PNG and WebP keep transparent areas; JPG and GIF get a white background. A JPEG converted to JPG without a size limit keeps every byte and only changes the file name. Everything happens in your browser; your images are never uploaded.
